How much daily movement should I aim for?
Aim to go for a 20 to 30 minute walk each day.
What sort of strength training do you recommend?
You should aim to include strength training around 2 to 3 times a week. Using light dumbbells, resistance bands or simply bodyweight, strength training exercises can include:
- Squats
- Lunges
- Wall push-ups
- Step-ups
- Glute bridges
- Seated rows
- Shoulder presses
What low impact exercise options are there?
Low impact exercise is a great way to get moving and you should try to include 3 to 4 sessions a week. Low impact exercises include:
- Swimming
- Pilates
- Yoga
- Cycling
- Chair workouts
- Stretching
What should I do on days when I don’t have the energy?
We all have days when we just don’t have the energy to exercise. One those days you should:
- Skip intense workouts
- Go for a gentle walk
- Stretch
- Make sure you stay hydrated
- Don’t feel guilty about resting
