Wegovy vs Mounjaro - Which Weight Loss Injection Works is Best for you?

Medical weight loss injections have transformed the way we approach weight management.  At Shape⁸, two treatments come up most often in consultations are Wegovy and Mounjaro.

Both can deliver impressive results, but they work in different ways.  This guide will help you understand the differences and decide which could be the right choice for your goals and lifestyle.

What is Wegovy?

Wegovy contains semaglutide a GLP-1 receptor against.  It is taken once a week and works by:

  • Slowing digestion
  • Reducing appetite
  • Helping you feel full for longer

Who it's for: Adults with a BMI of 30 or higher, or 27+ with a weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes.

Average results:  Clinical studies show around 15% weight loss over 68 weeks when combined with healthy eating and regular exercise.

What is Mounjaro?

Mounjaro contains tirzepatide, which targets two hormones GLP-1 and GIP for a dual effect:

  • May lead to greater average weight loss than GLP-1 medication alone.
  • Improves blood sugar control
  • Suppresses appetite

Who it's for:  Approved for type 2 diabetes but widely prescribed for weight loss.

Average results:  Studies show 20%+ body  loss over 72 weeks with lifestyle changes.
