Guidance on Maintenance (For Clients on Final Doses)

Example Post 3 Image

Reaching your target weight is a milestone — but the next phase is just as important: maintenance.

This is where we shift the focus from weight loss to long-term sustainability, ensuring you can hold onto your results without feeling restricted or overwhelmed.

1. Maintenance is not the end — it’s a transition
Coming off treatment doesn’t mean going “back to normal.” It means moving into a more balanced, sustainable routine that supports your new weight and lifestyle.

2. Appetite will change — and that’s expected
As medication doses reduce or stop, you may notice an increase in appetite. This isn’t failure — it’s biology. The goal is to be prepared for it, rather than caught off guard.

We work with you to build awareness around hunger cues, portion control, and food choices so you stay in control, not reactive.

3. Structure is your safety net
One of the biggest predictors of successful maintenance is routine. Regular meal patterns, consistent protein intake, and planned eating help prevent the “drift” that often leads to weight regain.

4. Keep protein and resistance training high
Maintaining muscle mass is critical. It supports your metabolism and helps stabilise your weight. Continuing strength training and prioritising protein intake should remain non-negotiables.

5. Monitor — but don’t obsess
We encourage light-touch tracking. This might be regular weigh-ins (e.g. once weekly) or how your clothes fit. The aim is early awareness, not perfection.

Small adjustments early prevent larger setbacks later.

6. Know that support doesn’t stop here
Maintenance doesn’t mean you’re on your own. Some patients benefit from a tapered dosing strategy, occasional check-ins, or even short-term reintroduction of treatment if needed.

This phase is highly individual — and that’s exactly how we approach it.

7. Identity shift is key
Perhaps the most overlooked part of maintenance is mindset. You’re no longer someone “trying to lose weight” — you’re someone who lives differently. Embedding those habits into your identity is what makes results last.

Sustainable weight loss isn’t about willpower — it’s about systems, support, and the right guidance at each stage.

If you’re approaching your final doses, this is the perfect time to plan your maintenance strategy properly — rather than leaving it to chance.
