At the start of my weight loss journey, everything felt easy.
The weight was coming off quickly, my clothes were looser, and every week felt like progress. It almost felt too good to be true.
And then… it slowed down.
No one really prepares you for this part. You go from seeing consistent drops on the scale to suddenly questioning everything you’re doing.
“Am I doing something wrong?”
“Has the medication stopped working?”
“Why has everything just… slowed down?”
If you’re feeling like this, you’re not alone. I’ve been there too.
Your Body Is Catching Up
At the beginning, your body responds quickly to change.
You’re eating less, your appetite is controlled, and your body is adjusting to a new routine. That’s why the first few weeks can feel dramatic.
But your body is clever.
It adapts.
As time goes on, your metabolism adjusts to your new weight and lower calorie intake. What worked at the beginning doesn’t hit the same way later on and that’s completely normal.
You’re Smaller Now, So Progress Looks Different
This is something people don’t talk about enough.
When you weigh more, your body burns more energy. As you lose weight, your body simply doesn’t need as many calories to function.
So naturally, fat loss slows down.
It doesn’t mean you’ve stopped progressing, it just means your body is working differently now.
You Might Be Eating Less… But Also Moving Less
This one surprised me.
On GLP-1 medication, your appetite drops massively. You’re eating less without even trying.
But sometimes, without realising it, you’re also moving less.
Less energy. Less steps. Less general activity.
So even though food intake is down, your overall calorie burn might be lower too, which can slow things down.
It’s Not Always Fat You Were Losing Before
At the beginning, a lot of that quick drop isn’t just fat.
It can be water weight, inflammation, even food sitting in your system.
So when things “slow down”, it’s often because your body has moved into real, sustainable fat loss, which is naturally slower.
You’re Still Changing (Even If the Scale Isn’t)
This is the biggest mindset shift I had.
Just because the scale isn’t moving as quickly doesn’t mean nothing is happening.
Your body can still be changing:
Clothes fitting better
Face looking slimmer
Less bloating
More definition
These are real wins.
Sometimes the scale just hasn’t caught up yet.
This Is Where Most People Give Up
This stage is the hardest.
Not because it’s not working, but because it feels like it’s not working.
This is where people panic, compare themselves to others, or think they need to do something extreme.
But actually… this is the stage that matters the most.
Because pushing through this is what creates long-term results.
What I’ve Learned
Slowing down doesn’t mean failing.
It means your body is adjusting. It means what you’re doing is starting to settle into something sustainable.
And honestly, that’s where the real transformation happens.
Not in the fast drops at the beginning…
But in the consistency when things feel slower.
If you’re in this phase right now, don’t panic.
You’re not stuck.
You’re not doing it wrong.
You’re just in the part no one talks about.
